Everything you Need to Know about Embroidered Beachwear

I do so love a beautiful yet unusual beachwear aesthetic, which is why I am pleased to see the embroidered beachwear trend making its mark. As a key trend for Spring Summer 2018, it is very timeless and wearable with intricate pieces that show off the very best design talent.

The beauty of embroidered beachwear is that it works for all type of sunny holiday – in high-end resorts or more casual luxe destinations. This trend is pretty, elegant and sophisticated with SS18 embroidery leaning towards the more vibrant end of the colour palette.

Embroidered Dreams

One of my personal favourite luxury beachwear brands is Juliet Dunn, who has created some beautiful embroidered outfits - a fair few of which I have in my closet. Her pieces are made with a vision "to combine east meets west and bohemian meets fashion" all inspired by beauty, the sun, travel and colour. This is certainly a vision that I also embrace wholeheartedly!

If you like bright colours, I would like to point you to the Silk Metallic Embroidered Maxi Kaftan that comes in a vibrant shade of turquoise. The Embroidered Playsuit in shades of rich indigo is also a personal favourite that shows how luxury and embroidered can happily dance hand in hand.

City Life

If you’re taking a holiday in a city with a beach (think Tel Aviv, Barcelona, Miami or Dubai), then embroidered kaftans and other beach cover-ups will complete a seamless transition from the sandy shores to brunch in the centre of town. Melissa Odabash and her Embroidered Midi Kaftan would be the perfect fit for elegant city-beach dwellers. This stylish piece shows just how the trend is done with a classic silhouette, detailed cutouts and sleek textures.

You can also blend embroidered with boho to brings an elegant touch to an outfit without crossing the line into overly casual. This Embroidered Cotton Maxi from Sensi Studio perfectly toes the line between boho and luxury.

Keep accessories clean with pieces such as the Daisy Beach Bag or Holkham Beach Bag where fresh, mellow hues balance out boho and embroidered details beautifully.

Go Separate

If you like the trend but prefer to wear separates, Emilio Pucci embraces all things bright and embroidered with these Printed Shorts. Match with the Cropped Eyelet Top for a showstopping beach look.

For destinations where you would prefer to cover up a little and enjoy that floaty, breezy holiday feeling, I'd like to introduce you to these cotton Wide Leg Trousers from Marysia Swim where fresh peach-pink hues simply ooze good summer vibes. Team with the Brighton Beach Bag for a refreshing look.

Complete the Look

Embroidered beachwear is very much a trend that you can play around with to fit your own unique style but straw bags and metallic accessories will always work. Add your unique style to accessories by choosing the colour palettes that work for you. I like to add mirrored sunglasses and espadrilles along with a brightly coloured bag and plenty of charms - click here to browse the madebywave accessories collection.

You can also strip things right back where the beachwear is bright and the accessories more muted. Think an embroidered bikini with a simple strappy sundress and metallic accessories. Pop all your essentials inside a striking bag - the Kalahari Beach Bag does the job nicely - and your 2018 beach look is ready to shine.
